“We’re busy doing nothing, workin’ the whole day through. Trying to find lots of things not to do.”
So says the song, and so was Sunday in Casa de Smocust. We tried very hard not to do anything, and succeeded in our endeavours.
What did you get up to?
Nuthin’
I took a long walk in the morning and had a short nap in the afternoon.
The most strenuous thing I did was run the hand-blender while making tzatziki for making gyros with the leftover lamb.
This morning it’s a bit of frantic housework.
This afternoon it’s lunch in town.
—and—
Tonight it’s Sir David Attenborough on stage!!!
If that’s what you call a short nap, I’d hate to see what you call a long one
.
I did very little yesterday. But I had a reasonably busy Saturday (went through final reception details at the venue, finished my wedding dress, made orange souffles for dessert after Ghryswald’s yummy bbq leg of lamb, watched the Swans lose to the Pies [the Swans lost that one, the Pies didn't win]).
I sat on the couch most of the day watching the Olympics. But I did do several loads of washing, changed the sheets on the bed, ironed my work clothes for today, and made pastitsio for dinner.
Tonight, David Attenborough. Squee!
Still got the four points! (and that’s eleven in a row now)
Correct – they certainly had their chances.
Ate a goat pie in the park.
Ran 10km – training for B2B
Played some basketball.
Cooked and ate Mexican.
Ate a steak.
Played touch football.
I need a nap after reading that.
Dislike.
Didn’t do much this weekend, which was great, but I’m about to heartily regret it…
Thought I’d better get around to checking the OTHER subject I’m studying, given we’re a month into the semester. Not only do I have an assignment due next Monday, apparently I also have one due on Saturday. And I haven’t looked at this subject. Oops. Sleep will be minimal this week.
Temptation to pull out of a subject is growing. I can pull out without financial penalty by the end of the month. But then it will take longer to do the qualification. The solution is of course to get over it and do some work.
But I don’t wanna!!!!!!!!! *stamps foot*
What a nightmare! I still have that bad dream/nightmare a lot. Where I haven’t enrolled/finished the assignment/studied for the exam for a particular subject. Often a university maths subject. I graduated 6 years ago now. I’m sure I did. I have to reassure myself after the dream…I graduated…there was a ceremony…I wore the funny hat…
Weekend was lovely, if a little cold for my liking. The wedding on Friday was fantastic, and we had a great time dancing and catching up with friends. Saturday was lunch at Portside with a friend, and a Max Brenner white hot chocolate to warm me up! Sunday was spending time with my family before flying back home last night to thaw out.
The man is back on a plane (as of 6.20 this morning) to Victoria until Thursday, so I’m flying solo. This week has a big list that includes cleaning and washing and ironing in preparation for our next trip to Brisbane this weekend where we will be enjoying the great South-East for a whole week. Bliss.
The downside of that is that of course it’s busy here at work, I have a tonne to do at home, and I am supposed to be finishing my payroll module on my course. At least if I get it all done I can go away and know that I can really enjoy my holiday.
Weekend was too short, as per usual. On Saturday I went to hang out at Sizzler with Rydell and her man. We sat for a good 5-6hours just catching up and chatting about life, love and other tid bits. It was very fun! Saturday night I had an unexpected visitor which was kind of nice – if not a tad awkward. After that I hung around watching movies on TV until passing out.
Sunday my new housemate moved it. She seems nice so far. We all sat around drinking coffee and then in the evening Im made a yummy roast pork! The rest of the day was spent studying hard. Im loving it so much so far.
Now im back at work and dreaming about leaving… *sigh* Anyone know of any jobs on offer? I dont care which state at this point!!!
I do know a job on offer in Melbourne, but it’s only part time (3 days/week)
Have you found one for me yet?
Ooo! Seconded.
We… we bought a kitten. >_> From a pet store. I am ashamed. It all felt so skeevy.
But I fell in love. Have some photos so that you can, too.

So cute! Does she have a name?
Can’t help who you fall in love with.:)
No name yet, but we are working on it.
If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them! I just keep going over things like Cinder, Ember, etc. because of her colouring. >_>
I prefer the following formula for naming of pets: [Military Rank] + [Old fashioned name] + [Unique descriptor]
Pets need ranks. Major, Admiral, Captain, Sir. It really gives them a sense of authority around the house.
“Anyone seen Captain Reginald Fluffy Pants around today? He has barely touched his dinner.”
But that’s just me.
Given the sense of authority that most cats innately possess, I’m not sure she’ll need encouragement.
She is gorgeous. I’d call her Sooty.
Looks like she has been playing in coals! ^_^
My first cat was called Sooty. But he was completely black, a dusty black like he’d been rolling in charcoal
.
I like people names – Plucker Pooch #1 is Steve. I’d go with anything that’d confuse the neighbours when you shout it across the yard. With this in mind, definitely don’t call it ‘Free Candy’.
A schoolfriend of mine had a cat called ‘Scunge’. There was never as much as watching his mum yelling out ‘SCUUUUUUUNGE!!’ from the back step….
Were you school friends with my aunt?
When Mum and her now-ex got their latest dog, they were going to call her Tootsie until my brother and I pointed out how that would sound echoing back from the mountains when they called her to come inside…. They named her Millie instead.
I wish I had been busy doing nothing… Saturday we put together the support structure for the stone benchtops, so that was trudging large pieces of board in & out of the house to cut, try it again, cut another side, try it etc.
Yesterday we did the parental rounds, lunch with Mum, enjoying the sunshine on the verandah, and then to the out-laws to do their tax returns & have dinner.
Today I have actually been able to start whittling down the pile of files to deal with, that sat there all last week while I dealt with a rush job. Rush job now submitted, I can catch up & get myself back on track. Unusually for a Monday, I think it’s going to be a productive day!
Saturday I don’t remember much of except we went out for dinner and that was nice.
Sunday was our regular 500 game, girls against the boys. Cards, booze, nibblies, booze, dinner, booze, projectile vomiting. Must have been a good night.
Just to rub salt into the wound, the girls actually notched up a win for once.
Saturday I went into the city & mostly window-shopped, although I did pick up some nice strawberries from Harris Farm Markets & some skincare stuff. Nearly got blown off Pyrmont Bridge on my way to meet my Mum & 2 of her close friends who were having lunch nearby. That part wasn’t fun.
Sunday I didn’t do a thing.
Today I’ve been up since before dawn to watch the Olympic closing ceremony. I was determined not to miss it, unlike the opening ceremony. Thought it was quite good. Then again music is completely up my alley, so I was happy to sacrifice sleep for it (besides, I didn’t have the best night’s rest methinks).
Hope this week is good to you all.
Excellent weekend. It was my cherub’s 8th bday. I made Elmo cupcakes but I’m a little too techincally challenged to know how to link a pic here….they are on my fb
Giggling girly household Saturday – each of the girls had a gf over. Then a girly pizza hut bday party – all girls – even their dad
Sunday – went to see an old client in their new digs for a colour consult. Then watched a gorgeous friend belt out a rock gig with the cherubs and my bestie at our local. Last night – early tea and into the jim jams.
