Face Off Friday

Face Off is real!

A man has been given a whole face transplant after a horrible accident disfigured him.

The doctors are really happy with his progress.

So happy Friday! What movies or stories do you see coming true recently? And what does the story of your weekend hold?

    Happy Friday :)

I can’t think of any stories that have come to life recently so here’s my weekend:

    Dancing Friday night
Girly crafty day on Saturday during which I’m decorating a cake (attempting to)
    Dancing on Sunday
Pining, pining, pining the rest of the time

Oh! My nephew has a thing at school tomorrow that I’m going to see (he’s in prep) and I’m meeting my cousin’s seven month old daughter.

    Things that make me happy:
    - Hugs
    - My 4 year old nephew being so excited to see me
    - Bake Boss, the new cake supply shop in Richmond (Vic). It has EVERYTHING

I also can’t think of any stories that are coming true. But I’m still waiting for my robot slaves.

I am very excited about my weekend. This evening I am going to the airport to collect a friend with whom I used to go to school when I was on exchange in the USA in 1982. We’ve kept in touch over the years but haven’t seen each other since then. She now works and lives with her partner in Singapore and keeps getting sent to Sydney and Melbourne for work so, this time, she decided to fly up to Brisbane to spend the weekend with me. I can’t wait!

Face Off is one of my favourite movies but I digress.

Earlier this week I got a phone call from the Ex and his accountant. The Ex is in strife with the tax dept. His accountant is not a nice man, I’ve never liked him. He was sarcastic, rude and a real bully on the phone. Shortly after that phone call, I put my foot down with the Ex. They need my help and I stated very clearly I WILL NOT BE TREATED IN THIS FASHION ANYMORE!!! It worked (well for the moment it has).

Yesterday I took Anouke, Cally and Enya to their new home. My Dad and Stepmum came over to help with their pedicures, shots and loading them into the van which is just as well. It was a bit of a bun fight and needed all three of us. Cally gave me a cracking kick to the shin which has bruised up nicely.

Alpaca breeders wear their bruises with pride.

The new home for the girls is fantastic. I couldn’t ask for better people and am considering actually giving them a couple of my favourite pet quality girls.

Yesterday I also found not one but three 4 leafed clovers.. it’s got to be a sign. One at the new place I took the girls and the other two near the water trough in the nursery.

I’m off to Sydney today to see my mum and then onto NAIR’s place tomorrow. On Sunday I’m having Yum Cha with Bubbles, Mr Bubbles, RL, Maven (and her new man and gorgeous daughter). I can’t wait :D

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Well done standing up for yourself!

Oh it hurts when you get a kick to the shins doesn’t it! You poor thing!

Re the four leafed clovers, must be a sign of the good things to come into your life!!!

Have a fantastic Sydney trip, I’m rather jealous that we didnt end up there the same weekend that would have been a fantastic splatup!

Jessmeca: I’m rather jealous that we didnt end up there the same weekend that would have been a fantastic splatup!

I’m a bit bummed too but hopefully soon we can catch up. NAIR has to work this weekend so he can’t make it on Sunday and is a bit down about it as he wanted to meet other splatters. I told him that there will be other times.. so hopefully we can make another date :)

    • Well done for standing up for yourself! My experience has been that it’s necessary from time from time, but it gets easier and needed less frequently.

My theory is that it’s part of the adjustment phase.

Unfortunately no movies coming to life in my week :-(

I did stumble across this which could conceivably be a movie reference

Smoph following on from your post this week, you will be glad to know that in somethings at least Australia isnt as crazy as America

This weekend will be a nice quite one for us. I won tickets to the movies the other morning so I have that to go to on Saturday Night. We are looking at watching “The Hunger Games” so that should be good by all reviews! I havent read the books so have no preconceptions going in, could be a good or bad thing!

This week has been full of bad news for my family unfortunately. My little cousin who got married last year is expecting her first child, unfortunately she has a cyst on her ovary which is growing faster than the baby and is looking like cancer. She has stated that she wont be getting anything invasive done while she is pregnant. We arent supposed to know about it but Nana told us, makes it difficult to lend support and hugs when we havent actually been told…

My older cousins baby who was born on Christmas day has been diagnosed with the most rare form of cystic fybrosis. Not good news for them. I called her lastnight and she was doing well, the hardest part is that they know he will get sick but they dont know when, and its difficult to reconcile the news they have been given to the happy smiling little man that they have.

Apologies for any spelling errors, post is too long to check apparently.

Cool! Six-legged lambs means extra leg lamb roasts for everyone.

Actually, it reminds me of a story a friend told me once. He was driving out in the country, doing a fair clip, when he was passed by a chicken. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He sped up and closed the gap but couldn’t quite catch the chicken which he did notice had six legs.

Eventually it turned into a farm and my mate followed it. He spotted the farmer and mentioned the six-legged chicken and how fast it was. “oh, aye,’ said the farmer ‘they are the fastest animals I have seen.’

‘They?’ my mate asked, ‘you mean there are more?. ‘Yes,’ said the farmer, ‘I breed them. I figure everyone prefers the legs so if I could breed a chicken with extra legs I could make a fortune.’

‘Makes sense,’ said my mate, ‘what do they taste like?’

“Don’t know,’ said the farmer, ‘I’ve never caught one.’

Splugs Jess, that’s really sad. I didn’t see the bad news first time I read the post, marvellous what a difference a coffee makes.

That’s a real double-hit and sad for all concerned. All you can do is give them your love and support and remember that we are all thinking of you.

Remember that thing they called ‘Virtual Reality’ they had briefly back in the ’80? It was going to revolutionise pretty much everything if you listened to the hype, but then it just kind of disappeared one day without another word. On another note, I’m sure I wandered past Hugo Weaving in a suit and dark glasses this morning.

I’m quite certain stuff happened this week that’s worth sharing, and there’s probably more interesting stuff happening this weekend, but I’m just starting the first coffee of the day so it the words ain’t coming yet.

On another note however, I will be FINALLY returning to Sydney on the Monday before ANZAC day (23rd April) for a 2 day work thing. Any localised Splatters who are keen to catch up let me know. There’s apparently a work dinner in the planning stages, but given I’ll be spending 2 solid days with them all I’m going to do my very best to give them the old heave-ho.

  • Can’t think of anything at the moment but I will say the doctors & nurses who performed the surgery did an amazing job.

Been a rather flat week for me.

My Mum has been in Darwin for the last 2 and a bit weeks because her Dad had to come over from the Philippines to get looked at by doctors for some nasty, nasty cancers.

He had a lump on his head, arm and a really big lump on his neck/jaw. The lumps on his head and arm were weeping and not healing up because of his diabetes.

Philippines doesn’t have a proper health care system I believe so that’s why Grandpa went back to Darwin and needed Mum to fly up and drive him around to the appointments.

Sadly Mum called me on Wednesday and told me some bad news. The cancer on his neck has spread into his jaw bone, glands and other areas. They won’t operate on it and have given him 3 to 4 months.

Mum cancelled her flight home and is spending another couple of weeks up there to spend as much time as she can with him.

He has two very young children and it breaks my heart. They are only around 6 and 4 years old. :(

Thank you to those on Twitter for your love. I didn’t mention it on Facebook because I didn’t want other family to find out that way and I have none of them on Twitter.

Thankfully I had a session with my psychologist the next day to talk it out. It’s been going extremely well and I only wish I had of done it soon.

We have been working through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It’s fascinating. I have a task this week to write down all the thoughts that pop into my head and concentrate on the negative ones the most.

Been good. LONG way to go, but very worth it. Extremely confronting.

No movies or stories coming to life for me either.

This weekend holds a fair bit of baking for me. Banana Cake Take 2 for the neighbour, plus I’m going to have a go at making my own hot cross buns (fruit & fruitless – none of that choc stuff) since I can’t be bothered making a trip to a certain bakery chain for my yearly fix. Hopefully they’ll turn out nommy noms.

    Happy list:

    - Hearing from someone I haven’t heard from in months
    - Perving at a cute guy on the train
    - Gordon St mass gay TV wedding
    - Laughter

    Have a superb weekend everyone!

Umm, I’m struggling to think of any movies either, except maybe Groundhog Day because that’s what this week has felt like.

Work has been busy, busy, busy, and I have finally gotten the approval to quit being shared by 2 bosses because neither one of them actually understands the basic principle of sharing. Each thought when I was working for them I could just cut off all contact to the other job – if only it was that easy! Anyway, last day in the second job today, and then back to full time in my original desk. Phew.

This weekend we are planning on heading up to the Daintree – the man has some work sites he needs to have a quick look at, and our whizz bang new camera arrived yesterday, so we are hoping to get some really lovely photos that we can enlarge on canvas for our lounge room walls.

End of quarter drinks tonight after work, and maybe some dinner out somewhere. That’s about the extent of my planning.

Big hugs to Bubbles and Jessmeca – totally agree with everyone else’s sentiments about cancer :(

Well, I was recently placed in an unnecessarily slow moving dipping device that lowered into a pool of ill tempered mutated sea bass.
I came in to work today medicated up to the eyeballs. I was a little overwhelmed. I came in with the sniffles and left with a series of cold & flu, some prescription antibiotics, expectorant cough syrup, and a nasal spray.
He could have at least thrown in a nice opiate.
Anyway, other than sleeping off the dregs of this lurgey, the weekend shall be spent continuing my attempts to clone an army of Lindsay Lohans from the DNA inside a mosquito that was preserved in amber.

YAY! FRIDAY! I can honestly say this is the first Friday in over a year that has felt like a Friday. I’m looking forward to having a proper weekend (in the sense that it was earnt through working 5 preceding days).
The first week of work went ok. Typical starting a new job situation, especially in consulting, hard to hit the ground running amongst established projects. But I’m happy to take it slowly, ease myself into it. I have been doing an awful lot of reading up on current work though. I like the feeling of being a some what contributing member of society again. The first pay cheque should be nice to.

    - DRAGONS! Tomorrow night!
    - Bubbles. She is a really amazing friend.
    - Impromptu Friday lunch plans with my best friend.
    - DJ.

Well, I am still on holidays, just over half way through. Been doing heaps of stuff and finally managed to get another of our classic car projects inspected and registered. Now all we need is the historic reg book and we can take it out on the road. The pool is progressing well and they are now up to putting the coping on the top. Probably only two full days of work left and that will be done. Then we need to work on clearing up the mess that the excavator guy did and concrete around the pool and (in theory) we will be done. It will have taken over 7 months by the time it will be finished – 7 months of mess and crap everywhere, stuff beong broken, moved or smashed and Mr FB and I be extremely stressed. The end is nigh! We have had to do a bit of fencing lately, due to the deer from behind us working out how to escape from their paddock and smashing some of our fences down and one of our sheep taking a liking to the agapanthus that line the driveway and pushing the fence down to get to them.
We bought a new ‘Cocky Condo’ for Rocky the Sulphur Crested cocky, a nice big one that he can be locked into when we go away. He was very happy in his new house and then he discovered that he can climb off it and toddle off, now he is ecstatic. Lucky for us, he only seems to do it when we are home, and I think it is purely atttention seeking behaviour. He just wants cuddles and so he toddles off to find someone for some attention. Luckily the dogs and the kity ignore him when he does this, and he is bright enough to know not ot push his luck by walking too close to them.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and that no more sad news is forthcoming for anyone.
    Stay safe!
    xxxx

I get so angry at random people. I was just reading an article on news.com.au about the Catholic Church putting out anti-gay pamphlets. But though I disagree with it, that is not what made me angry. One of the reader’s comments talking about ‘drawing the moral’ line made me angry. Because yet again, they made the jump from same sex marriage to marriage with animals. WTF? How do people seriously think that? Legalising gay marriage will leave to legalised animal love? Are those with a penchant for animals exclusively gay? WHAT?!!!! I don’t understand. And I have to stop myself from berating them on every article and blog and website. HOW ARE PEOPLE THAT RIDICULOUS?! I disagree with people who’s religious beliefs mean they are against gay marriage. But I respect that that’s their belief. This? This isn’t a belief. This is stupidity in all it’s glory. Come on people! At least attempt to think rationally!!

Ok, rant over. No movies coming true around me lately. Not a whole lot happening. 3 more weeks in this job and then I’m off! Can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!

Still looking at housing options. If I’m sensible I’ll wait a couple of months until I’m settled in my new job and have the money/pay transition worked out (being paid monthly instead of fortnightly). But I really want to move NOW. So I’m going to inspect a 1 bedroom tomorrow :P Sensibility is overrated.

I’m doing the Run for the Kids on Sunday (14km) but given my absolute lack of training, it’s more like to be a shuffle-stumble-drag for the kids. Still, all for a good cause and it’ll get my bum moving. Even if I walk the whole thing. Better than nothing. Must charge ipod!

I finished my first programming assignment a week early. Have I mentioned I love programming?! Fun!! Have I also mentioned I hate databases? Sooooooo boring. Should probably crack the textbook for that subject soon. Maybe next week. Or something.

Hope you all have a good weekend. Sounds like a couple of you are having a bit of a tough time. Splugs to you all.

I don’t think I’ve seen enough movies to think of one coming true…

The story of my weekend will be “hold this… turn it that way… grab that end” etc etc etc. The kitchen is no more, the walls will have new plaster put on and cornice put up, and buying the rest of the kitchen stuff not already acquired.
Mr R has next week off work, and he will be working even harder at home instead, planning the framing and work order, ordering timber, installing cabinets, and whatever else is needed while simultaneously wrangling his MIL and her carpenter… at least Mum will be cooking for us next week!

Massive splugs to Jess and Bubbles, that is really sucky news. I also endorse the previous sentiments on cancer, knowing it very well.
Splugs also to Kanga – goodonya girl for putting your foot down! Make them toe your line.
Splugs to all Splatters, it seems there are some rocky roads being trod atm.

Looking forward to the weekend and I am going to be in NSW for Easter, unfortunately I don’t have time to go to sydney due to family commitments but if there are splatters who could make it up to a brunch in the hunter valley on saturday morning I would be open to it. i am also free on the monday but i don’t know what would be open.

Much love to the Splatters who have been supporting us over on the ABCs of Style as well, its always nice to see comments and it is a realy nice distraction from all of the rubbish that is going on at work and with my family at the moment.

Oh and as for movies coming true this weekend I got a Pretty Woman style offer (His words – Why don’t you let me pay for you to come to Singapore with me for the weekend?) from a guy I used to date, haha I said no thank you, so I ruined the opportunity for that to come true.

Big huge hugs to Bubbles and Jess, my thoughts are with you. xx

Have a great time with your old friend Pokey and Kanga – stick your fingers in your ears and sing ‘la la la’ when arseholes spill their crap.

SO.’s contract is over so he is looking for a new job whilst studying for an exam he has to take in Ghryswald-ville land in June. He spent the last couple of days putting together the course application which, in itself, was seven pages long.

With the passport, travel arrangements and two outstanding tax returns to submit and the most chaotic filing ‘system’ (a big plastic storage box), these weeks are proving to be a little mind boggling.

My ideal outcome for this coming weekend would be having the aircon. on flat strap, shutting the block-out curtains and crawling under the doona. Of course, this will not happen.

To you all, have a super weekend and I your plans come into fruition.

    Cazzy xxxxxxxx

ps. thanks to those of you for your help.
