So how was your weekend? Who’d you see, where’d you go, what’d you do?
I suspect that in one Brisbane household this weekend the last minute lists where being checked and the nerves and excitement also kicked in big time. I also suspect that a few prayers to the rain gods may have been muttered. What am I rambling about; well the lovely Lollerskater is getting married on Wednesday. I have never been married and so the joy and excitement of a wedding day is not something I have experienced. For much of my younger years I declared marriage not something I wanted but the truth is I would give anything in the world, with the right person, to be married. Yes my views and ideas about marriage and relationships have changed a lot over the years. I am less cynical, more open and optimistic but not fooled. Relationships take work and effort.
But I love a good a wedding. The last wedding I went to was a male friend of mine. Both were marrying for the second time and from the moment the bride appeared my friend had tears in his eyes. I have never seen him so happy, so calm, so sure. It was a beautiful thing.
So I just want to take this opportunity to wish Lollerskater and her man not only all the best for Wednesday but for everyday there after. Whether it rains, hales or shines come Wednesday enjoy the day, the open celebration of your love for one another and all that is good about you as a couple and as individuals. And I just know you are going look spectacular in that dress.
Here for your reading are two of my favourite pieces, one about a wedding, one my favourite poem about love. And maybe while you are MMM’g today share a wedding funny a story just to lighten the Monday with a laugh.
